Open to physicians trained in internal medicine or family medicine and eligible for Florida licensure, this groundbreaking residency offers a rare opportunity to become a leader in the rapidly evolving field of hospice and palliative medicine. You'll work alongside expert mentors, gaining hands-on experience across the full continuum of care—from adult and pediatric hospice to hospital-based palliative consults. Along the way, you'll deepen your expertise in advanced communication, bereavement support, medical ethics, and more. Graduates emerge uniquely prepared to shape the future of care for patients and families at life's most critical moments.

opportunities beyond the classroom
Empath Health delivers hospice and home health services across north central, west central, and southwest Florida as one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in this field. Our physician residency program is designed for those trained in internal or family medicine and eligible for Florida licensure, offering experience in adult and pediatric hospice, palliative consults, communication, bereavement, and ethics to prepare future leaders. For healthcare professionals outside of residency training, Empath Health provides diverse employment and volunteer opportunities to support patients and families throughout their care journey.
