As we go through life, we inevitably encounter difficulties and suffer tragedy and loss. The way that we process and move through these experiences has a lasting impact on our self-understanding and the way we interact with others. We must be vigilant about guarding our hearts. Fred Rogers put it this way, “It’s our insides that make us who we are, that allow us to dream and wonder and feel for others. That’s what’s essential. That’s what will always make the biggest difference in our world.”
May we continue to dream and wonder and feel for others, and may this inner act of compassion and imagination blossom into a more just and equitable world.
