Clearwater and Ocala – Children of late, long-time Pinellas and Marion County developer Sidney Colen have established through a significant contribution, the Ina A. Colen Endowed Fund for Patient Care through the Suncoast Hospice Foundation in honor of their mother. The Colen family is best known for their On Top of the World 55+ communities in Marion and Pinellas Counties and the naming and development of Kenneth City in Pinellas County.
Son Kenneth D. Colen of Clearwater and Ocala said the family was very impressed with the care their mother received at Suncoast Hospice’s North County Care Center in Palm Harbor during her last days. “She was treated with such love and compassion by the nurses and other care providers at Suncoast Hospice,” he said. “My sisters and I were honored to witness such amazing compassion, and to be able to help Suncoast Hospice continue to provide care to all who are in need for many years to come.”
Kenneth Colen and his sisters Leslee R. Colen of Tampa, and Merna S. Brein of Tacoma, WA made a significant contribution through the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay that will help Suncoast Hospice continue providing compassionate hospice services to the uninsured and underinsured in Pinellas County.
“Our mother was devoted to helping others throughout her 94 years.” She was “a devoted daughter and daughter-in-law, she set an example of unconditional love and caring, patience and forgiveness, for all to understand and seek to attain,” said Kenneth Colen
