Okay, I’m just going to say it. There have been good things that have happened as a result of this pandemic. Don’t get me wrong, it is absolutely heartbreaking how many people’s lives have been negatively impacted by this virus. It is also true that there are too many people grieving the sudden loss of a loved one who’s death was completely unexpected.
But in the midst of all this pain and suffering, there has been an outpouring of compassion and creativity. Churches, synagogues, temples and mosques finding ways to stay connected with their communities and still practice their faith, musicians and poets posting their beautiful music and reflective words for free, and countless people within Empath and across our community committing random acts of kindness – like the gentleman who went around posting signs saying “Happiness” all over St. Petersburg. I was talking to one of the chaplains about this and made the comment that “Love is like a Dandelion. You just can’t kill it! No matter what you throw at it, it still pops back up and blooms.”
So here’s to the power and resilience of love. It’s what the world needs now!
