Congratulations to our Impact Award winner, Maggie Smith, environmental services technician for the Suncoast Hospice Mid-Pinellas Care Center. Suncoast Hospice is a member of Empath Health.
Smith has been with the organization for 16 years. In her role she works to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff and visitors.
“I like my job and working with the nurses and aides,” says Smith. “Empath Health is a nice company to work for.”
The monthly Impact Award recognizes and celebrates staff for their positive impact on others, demonstration of our values and above-and-beyond service.

Maggie is always pleasant and eager to provide the highest level of customer service with caring and compassion to our patients, their families and her colleagues. She ensures our Mid-Pinellas Care Center is clean and sanitized. This has been an especially challenging time with her responsibility for the COVID-19 unit, which has a unique set of protocols. She has worked diligently and put in extra hours so we are able to continue to meet the needs of the community.
Maggie approaches challenges of her job with an open mind and no complaints. She always has a smile, a pleasant attitude and eagerness to help which brings peace and calmness to the unit.
She helps us maintain a healing presence in our community by keeping our care center ready for the next patient in need. She does a thorough cleaning of rooms and will put in extra hours to get rooms cleaned so we can admit patients as quickly as possible. This helps to keep the patients and their families from waiting too long for the care they need.
Maggie has been flexible and agile with her personal time to meet the needs of the Care Center. She has shown her gratefulness with her commitment to the company for 16 years.
Maggie impacts me with her work ethic and positivity. Even if I’m having a rough day, just a brief conversation with Maggie gives calmness, positivity and strength to brave the day and tasks ahead.
